Bryan Domínguez
Nacido y criado en Chicago, IL
Su interés por convertirse en artista comenzó cuando estaba en la escuela secundaria. Cuando Bryan comenzó la escuela secundaria, se convirtió en parte del programa de Artes Visuales de Senn, lo que lo ayudó a mejorar sus habilidades de pintura y dibujo. Durante la escuela secundaria participó en un programa llamado Advance Drawing and Painting en Gallery 37. En el verano de 2019 participó en un programa preuniversitario en Maine College of Art. Actualmente asiste al California College of the Art en San Francisco, CA con especialización en pintura y dibujo.
La mayor parte de su trabajo reciente consiste en comprender la idea de ser mexicoamericano como primera generación. Bryan está descubriendo su tradición y cómo valorarla a través de pinturas de paisajes y pinturas de Naturaleza muerta.
Artist Statment
His work explores concepts from dead spirits having their own consciousness to identifying trauma and healing from it. He does this by asking the following: Where does a spirit live when we don’t think of them? Are they aware where the living is taking them? What are some blockages in his life?
Dominguez focuses on storytelling, painting , drawing , screenprinting, and installation work. Their paintings and drawings are a way to visually document a narrative of his life. Some of his installations are focused on making an altars for Dia de los Muertos inviting people to have conversation on how to speak to an ancestor. Dominguez being Mexican-American, searches for his own diaspora of being first-generation.
